Accessibility Statement

Last updated: July 2026

Our commitment

BecomeFreelancer is built with accessibility as a core requirement, not an afterthought. We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards across the site, including semantic HTML, keyboard navigation, visible focus states, and proper labeling of forms and interactive elements.

What we do

  • Semantic HTML and correct heading hierarchy on every page - one h1 per page, no skipped levels.
  • Keyboard-accessible navigation, menus, and forms, including a skip-to-content link.
  • Visible focus states on every interactive element, not just a default browser outline.
  • Sufficient color contrast throughout the black/white/gray interface.
  • Descriptive alt text for meaningful images, and empty alt text for purely decorative ones.
  • Real form labels on every input - no placeholder-only fields.
  • Proper ARIA attributes on the mobile menu (aria-expanded, aria-controls) and other dynamic UI.

Known limitations

Some AI-generated content (e.g. your profile overview) is written in plain paragraphs and reviewed by you before publishing, but we haven't independently audited every third-party embed (such as the Paddle checkout overlay) against WCAG 2.1 AA. We rely on those providers to maintain their own accessibility standards.

Ongoing work

Accessibility is an ongoing effort, not a one-time checklist. We review new pages and features against WCAG 2.1 AA before shipping, and we welcome feedback at any time.
